Blue Suede News #52 (Fall
2000) has 68 pages with a slick cover. The cover story is about James
Intveld, a multi talented Los Angeles roots rocker, who is equally at
home in country, rockabilly and swing. Intveld did the music for the famous
John Waters movie Cry Baby in 1990, starring Johnny Depp,
and Inveld also coached Nicolas Cage to sing like Elvis in Young at Heart.
He is a great performer and songwriter. There is a short story about a Rockabilly
gathering in Redlands, performing were Jody Reynolds, Donnie Brooks,
Jewel Akens and Glen Glenn. Legendary SUN rocker Sonny
Burgess and the Pacers are featured with the second part of an
interview, very interesting stuff. On the Doo Wop and 50's R&B side
we get to read about Grady Chapman (of Billy Ward & The Dominos,
The Coasters and Robins fame) and the story of Rock'n'Roll.
There is an extensive article about the grand opening of the EMP
(Experience Music Project) in Seattle with bands like Junior Brown,
Dave Alvin, Danny O'Keefe, Paul Revere & The Raiders,
Carole Kaye, James Brown, The Wailers, Kingsmen,
Bo Diddley, Big Jay McNeely, Taj Mahal and others.
There is a story about Blues guitarist Kid Ramos who is famous for
playing with The Fabulous Thunderbirds. There is also a short story
